ChemCert Training

ChemCert Accreditation is designed to enable chemical users to meet all regulatory requirements for access to chemicals and comply with chemical use legislation as well as to meet obligations under industry quality assurance programs.

It is based on endorsed national competencies and accredited training and is directed at independent operators.

This training is designed to enable those who qualify to meet AQF Level 2 and 3 competencies for chemical use.

ChemCert accreditation is more than just completing a training program. Accreditation requires completion of training and assessment to endorsed industry competency standards plus additional ChemCert QA requirements.

The competency based training and assessment component of ChemCert accreditation requires participants to attain competence in the following areas:

  • Follow basic chemical safety rules.
  • Apply chemicals under supervision.
  • Prepare and Apply chemicals.
  • Transport, Handle and Store Chemicals.

ChemCert training provides up to date coverage of the full range of areas central to safe and effective management of chemicals. These include:

  • Integrated Pest Management.
  • Legislation.
  • The Product Label.
  • Chemical Formulations.
  • Personal Safety.
  • Environmental Safety
  • .
  • Application of Plant Protection Products.
  • Application of veterinary Products.
  • Record Keeping.
  • Risk Assessment.

To gain ChemCert accreditation, participants must achieve:

  • Full marks in label interpretation assessments.
  • Full marks in application equipment calibration calculations.
  • At least a 70% pass in a test (open book) of knowledge about chemical management.

Accreditation is valid for 5 years with the expiry date shown on the Accreditation Card.

To renew Accreditation after 5 years, participants must undergo one of ChemCert's reaccreditation training and assessment options.

All ChemCert training is conducted by a Registered Training Organisation to enable recognition of the qualification within the vocational education sector. ChemCert provides the training framework and structure, support for the instructor, training resources, quality assurance and a mechanism for participants to achieve industry Accreditation.
