ChemCert Re-accreditation

 Printer Friendly Version

Why is re-accreditation necessary?

It is the policy of Chemcert Australia to update the information in the courses it provides on a regular basis to keep up with advances in technology as well as changes in legislation.

Because legislation and best practise technology is constantly changing, it is essential that chemical users keep up to date with these changes and maintain high levels of knowledge and skills in chemical use. The community also needs to be assured that chemicals are being used safely and correctly by people with a high level of competency. Therefore, ChemCert Australia Chemical user Training program policy requires that ChemCert Certificates be valid for a period of 5 years. The expiry date appears on the Accreditation Certificate and I.D. Card. Before this expiry date, it is necessary to renew the Accreditation which will then be valid for a further 5 years.

Re-accreditation Requirements

ChemCert Australia policy requires participants who wish to renew their Certificate to undertake, as a minimum, successful completion of assessments covering label interpretation, calibration of appropriate equipment, and the latest legislation controlling chemical use. This can be achieved by:

  • undertaking a re-accreditation course.
  • completing an approved ChemCert industry Specialist Course.
  • undertaking the ChemCert Chemical Management Course for a second time.
  • applying for recognition of other training (RPL/RCC) and undertaking a challenge test covering the ChemCert assessments.

Participants may achieve ChemCert Re-accreditation, or if they wish, undertake additional work and assessment to achieve the higher level ChemCert GOLD Accreditation.

To be recognised for renewal of the ChemCert Accreditation, all assessments/activities must be conducted by an instructor registered with ChemCert NSW Ltd.

On completion of the Re-accreditation Course, details of successful participants will be forwarded to the Secretariat. A new Accreditation Card will be forwarded to the successful participants with the same database number as the old Accreditation but with a new expiry date.
